Kampala Tourism Walk…
The Kampala Tourism Walk is a flagship experiential tourism event organized by Uncovered Travel Initiative Africa (Uganda Uncovered) that celebrates the culture, history, and hidden stories of Uganda’s capital city. Since its inception, the walk has grown into a vibrant urban tourism movement, bringing together over 500 young people including travellers, content creators, tourism students, professional guides, and city enthusiasts to rediscover Kampala through a fresh and engaging lens.
Now with four successful editions, the Kampala Tourism Walk has become an important platform for promoting urban tourism while encouraging people to explore the city beyond its well-known landmarks. Participants walk through different parts of Kampala while learning about the stories behind historic buildings, monuments, streets, markets, and community spaces that shape the identity of the city.
Kampala ReImagined – 4th Edition
The 4th Kampala Tourism Walk, held on 16th August 2025, was organized under the theme “Kampala ReImagined.” The theme invited participants to rethink how Kampala is experienced as a tourism destination. Instead of focusing only on popular attractions, the walk explored the lesser-known cultural and historical layers of the city; from colonial-era architecture and historic schools to street names, markets, and community landmarks that hold rich stories of Kampala’s past and present.
A Platform for Youth and Storytelling
One of the key pillars of the Kampala Tourism Walk is youth engagement and digital storytelling. The event provides a platform for tourism students, bloggers, photographers, vloggers, and young content creators to document and share the city’s stories through photos, videos, blogs, and social media content. This helps create fresh tourism narratives that promote Kampala to both local and international audiences.
Building Pride in Kampala’s Heritage
The Kampala Tourism Walk also fosters community appreciation and cultural pride by encouraging residents to reconnect with the heritage that surrounds them. By highlighting overlooked places and stories, the walk inspires a deeper understanding of Kampala as a destination rich in culture, creativity, and history.
Looking Ahead – The 5th Edition
Following the success of the previous editions, preparations are underway for the 5th Kampala Tourism Walk taking place in 2026. With participation already reaching about 500 youth and tourism enthusiasts, the initiative continues to grow each year, with expectations of attracting an even larger community of explorers, storytellers, and tourism stakeholders.
More than just a walk, the Kampala Tourism Walk is becoming a movement that connects people with the stories of Kampala while inspiring a new generation to explore, document, and celebrate the city.
